AI is everywhere nowadays, but the knowledge it takes to really get to the bottom of what this field brings forth remains largely ambiguous. This course is an elementary look at the basics of Artificial Intelligence and a starting point for overcoming the sometimes daunting barriers to this topic.

The online course "Launchpad to Fundamental Questions on AI" by Kiron Open Higher Education builds on the popular and style-defining comic strip "We need to talk, AI" by Dr. Julia Schneider and Lena Kadriye Ziyal. The course is divided into 4 parts and aims to introduce central topics in the context of Artificial Intelligence and to teach learners a reflected and conscious approach to AI. The learning offer combines self-study as well as sharing of ideas and discussions (reflection) two formats to enable an entertaining acquisition of knowledge and competence.

Part 1

Here, we provide a crisp and simple introduction to relevant terms and topics with real-life examples. The content is presented in a visually-rich format sectioned in small chunks, supported with frequent interactive elements and reflection exercises allowing for social exchange. The backbone of this curriculum comes from the innovative graphic novel on Artificial Intelligence, We Need to Talk, AI. Part 1 covers the basics that are necessary to understand what AI is.
